What is Resomation ?
A flameless alternative choice to cremation with environmental
benefits.
The Resomation® process uses the natural process of alkaline
hydrolysis and accelerates this process by utilising strong
alkali, normally potassium hydroxide and is run at high
temperature (150-170ºC) in a pressurised vessel. The whole
process is fully automated.
After Resomation® bone remains are left in the form of pure white
ash. As with cremation these remains can be placed in an urn and
be returned to relatives.
Advantages of Resomation
 |
CO2 emissions/carbon footprint:
significantly less than cremation and uses less energy |
 |
Mercury emissions: retained in teeth which
can be recovered from the remains contained in the
Resomator |
 |
Very low running costs |
 |
Waste liquid exits sterile and can be
disposed or recycled |
 |
Embalming fluids and cytotoxic drugs
neutralised |
 |
Jewellery and implants can be processed
and recovered |
 |
No burning of caskets – protects trees and
further reduces CO2 production |
