Key Members of Staff
Austeng are a boutique engineering firm that specialises in the design, engineering, development and building of customised electromechanical machinery and systems.

As soon as you meet with the people at Austeng you will notice the enthusiasm for each project. This not only translates to management but throughout the organisation.

All staff are multi-skilled and therefore get involved in each project giving it a mixture of experience, education and youth.

The management team and engineers are supported by office staff, draughtsmen, a variety of tradesmen including specialized pipe welders, boilermakers, sheet metal workers and turning and fitting with additional tickets as crane drivers, riggers and chasers.

Ron McDonald

Design Manager. Graduated R.M.I.T Mechanical Engineering 1982. Since commencing employment with Austeng in the 80’s Ron has been involved in all aspects of the business including design, specification, procurement, manufacture, installation and commissioning. He now heads our Design Department.

David Habgood

Service Manager. He graduated from the Monash University with a Bachelor of Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering (hons). He heads the Service Department specialising in crematoria clients.

Dylan Mayson

Service Liaison Engineer. He graduated from Deakin University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons) with a prior trade background.  He assists David in the Service Department concentrating on non-crematoria clients.

Luke Smith

Projects Engineer/Estimator. He graduated from RMIT with a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons). Luke and Ross comprise our Estimating Department and handle enquiries and project engineering from initial inception up until the design and/or manufacturing stage.

Bruce Bennett

Tim Van Slageren

Furnace Specialist and “A” Grade Electrician. Has worked on our furnaces for over 15 years. He now project manages our furnace installation projects and up-grades.

John George

Consultant. One of the original shareholders and engineers. Over 40 years experience in innovative engineering and management he is now a consultant, thus helping to maintain his legacy of engineering excellence.
